Direct Payment

Direct payment regulations allow Health, Housing and Adult Services and Children's Services to make cash payments to people to enable them to organise and purchase services that they have been assessed as needing instead of receiving services arranged by the council.

Direct payments give people more options, choice and control over how their social care needs are met. People can decide when their needs will be met, by whom, and at a time that is best for them.

People who have had direct payments in the past have found it a positive experience as it has given them greater choice and has assisted them to carry on living independently.
